Here is a method I used to collect "gently used" books at my school. Every fall we have a Book Fair for kids to buy new books. I asked them to bring in any used books they no longer wanted on the same day as the Book Fair. We had a contest for kids to guess how many used books would be donated, how high they would reach when stacked up, and how much they would weigh, and then had 3 prizes. We got a lot of books the first and 3rd years...not so many the 2nd year. You could try this at several schools. Good luck. Way to go Maria….
